Northside Baptist Church has celebrated Advent since 1985.   Since 1992 there has been the creation of a worship banner that follows the theme of that particular year’s lectionary readings and theme.  Various artists have contributed their skills in designing the banners and making them come to life.  Some of those previous artists include Toni Wall, Jan Hurt, Marijane Whitfield, Robin Whitfield, David Miller, Judy Gearhart, Anthony Thaxton, Lisa Edwards, Robin Simpson, Faye Patterson and her quilting circle, Kathy Gibbs, Susan Meadors, Ruth Randman, Norma Baker, and Marie Anderson. 

 Each year the banners are all hung in the sanctuary the Saturday before the first Sunday of Advent, a feat accomplished under the direction of church member Jeff Wright.  Most members can mark the beginning of their church membership by the banner that was hung the year they joined the church.
